Al-Sudani receives President of Iraqi Kurdistan
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received on Saturday the President of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Nechervan Barzani, and his accompanying delegation.
Al-Sudani emphasized the determination of the federal government to fulfill the needs and ambitions of Iraqis in all parts of the country, as well as to promote integration between the federal government and the authorities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The meeting addressed the need to support the government’s reform measures in order to accomplish the government’s objectives, continue consolidating comprehensive development, and overcome administrative and executive obstacles that prevent improving living, working conditions, and the economy.
Among the primary concerns that Erbil and Baghdad are presently facing are the wages of government employees in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and the resumption of oil exports.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, announced on Wednesday that Baghdad and Erbil came to an arrangement regarding the wage payments.
Although Baghdad has been providing money to Erbil to pay wages, the KRG claims that this is insufficient to fulfill its whole payroll.
