Baghdad, KBR discuss developing Iraq’s gas output

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed on Thursday expanding collaboration in natural gas development with KBR, a US-based company operating in fields of science, technology, and engineering.
The discussions took place during a meeting with the President of KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions, Jay Ibrahim, in the southern US city of Houston as part of his official visit to the United States, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
In addition to the engagement with the Iraqi private sector in energy development, where positive discussions are being made in this respect, the meeting covered the efforts made by the Iraqi government to fulfill its commitments aimed at lowering carbon emissions.
In order to boost the country’s economy and lower imports, Al-Sudani emphasized that the government is committed to creating ideal conditions to attract foreign businesses to Iraq to grow the country’s gas industry and utilize associated gas.
The Iraqi Prime Minister urged KBR, which has operations in Iraq, to cooperate with the private sector in Iraq, which has become able to establish partnerships with major specialized companies.
Ibrahim reaffirmed the US company’s intention to operate in the ammonia manufacturing industry and to participate in the Nebras Integrated Petrochemical Complex project. Additionally, he stated that the company is ready to build an engineering design center and enhance the skills of Iraqi engineers.
