Baghdad to host International Defense Exhibition ‘IQDEX 2023’

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Baghdad International Fairground will witness the launch of the 11th Security, Defense and Military Industries Exhibition next March, under the auspices of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, with the participation of 18 countries and more than 100 companies, the state news agency (INA) reported.
The head of the organizing company, Falah Al-Shammari, said in a statement that the exhibition will be held from March 4 to March 7, 2023, noting that this exhibition focuses on the military equipment of the Air Force, and electronic security technologies, INA mentioned.
“The exhibition focuses on modern technologies and allows security officials to view these technologies, which saves time and money for the Iraqi government to develop security and military skills,” Al-Shammari stated.
Al-Shammari elaborated that various weapons, as well as light, medium and heavy equipment will be displayed in ‘IQDEX 2023,’ INA explained.
Al-Shammari confirmed that this military and security event is considered the most important in light of the great international interest in the exhibition of security, defense and military industries, INA added.
Many high-profile officials are expected to attend, including Al-Sudani, according to Kurdistan 24.
President of the National Defense Industries Commission, Mohammed Al-Daraji, mentioned last September that the commission aims to localize the military industry and preserve the country’s economic and national security by manufacturing weapons and ammunition in Iraq.
Al-Daraji explained at that time that the next step of the National Defense Industries Commission is to start manufacturing Mesopotamia rifle and light ammunition used by security and armed forces by the end of 2022.
The National Defense Industries Commission issued a clarification last June regarding the ‘Babylon’ pistol. Al-Daraji explained last June that this industry has security and economic benefits as it reduces the high demand on imported guns and will save the hard currency.
Al-Daraji clarified that ‘Babylon’ pistol has been manufactured in the factories of the National Defense Industries Commission with a local production rate of 70 percent.
