Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Monday the Iranian bombing of areas in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the Iranian attack carried out this morning using artillery and drones on areas in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, leaving many safe citizens between martyrs and wounded,” the statement mentioned.

“This unilateral and hostile approach will not help in finding solutions leading to stability. Our stances previously indicated the danger of such a blatant aggression on Iraq’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. This attack reflects the continuous threat that will cause confusion and increase tension in the region,” the statement explained.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take high-level diplomatic measures in this regard, and will do what it takes to preserve Iraq’s sovereignty in a manner that enhances the safety of its people,” the statement added.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced earlier on Monday that its attacks will continue on Kurdistan region until the ‘terrorist groups’ are disarmed.

The Minister of Health in Kurdistan Region, Saman Al-Barzanji, said that one person was killed and eight others were wounded in the Iranian missile attack on Koya town in Kurdistan region, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), which has bases in Kurdistan, confirmed the killing of two of its members in the Iranian bombing.
