Baghdad urges Lockheed Martin to open aircraft maintenance facilities

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, emphasized the significance of Lockheed Martin’s commitment to set up facilities for maintaining military aircraft in Iraq.
The Prime Minister’s statement took place during his meeting on Wednesday with the President of Lockheed Martin, James Taiclet, and his accompanying delegation in Washington DC, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The meeting took place in Washington DC as the Iraqi Prime Minister is paying an official visit to the United States, where he met with the US President, Joe Biden, and other senior officials, including the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin.
Lockheed Martin, a leading global security and aerospace company, is the manufacturer of F-16 fighter jets.
Given the significance of the rehabilitation of Iraqi aircraft to preserve the country’s national security, Al-Sudani emphasized the relevance of the US company’s commitment to opening facilities for the maintenance of military aircraft and providing replacement parts within Iraq.
Regarding the execution of the terms of contracts for the delivery of aircraft to Iraq and the provision of all necessary supplies, Taiclet showed understanding and willingness to comply with the wishes of the Iraqi government.
