Biden mistakenly says ‘Putin is clearly losing the war in Iraq’

Joe Biden has no real White House challenger from within the Democratic Party, but he is expected as candidate to face constant scrutiny over his age

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – During a press briefing on Wednesday before leaving the White House for a trip to Chicago, US President Joe Biden made a slip of the tongue when he incorrectly declared, ‘Putin is plainly losing the fight in Iraq,’ rather than Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Biden’s comment came after a reporter questioned if Russian President Vladimir Putin had been weakened by the short rebellion led by a Russian mercenary leader whose soldiers had been fighting against Ukraine.

“It’s hard to tell, but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq. He is losing the war at home and he has become a bit of a pariah around the world,” Biden said.

President Biden was chastised on social media on Wednesday after claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin is presently ‘losing the war in Iraq.’

This isn’t the first time the current US President has made an error. Last November, Biden made a slip of the tongue during a press conference when he erroneously announced that the Russian forces are pulling out of ‘Fallujah’ instead of ‘Kherson’ during a news conference at the White House.

Biden only remembered the exact name of the city he was referring to when a journalist corrected him.

Fallujah experienced the deadliest fight waged by American soldiers since the Vietnam War in November and December 2004, according to the New York Post, and is generally recognized as a pivotal milestone in the US invasion of Iraq.
