Civil Aviation reveals truth of 4 billion USD smuggled to Turkey
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraq Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) denied on Wednesday what was mentioned in the statement of MP Alia Nassif that a private jet left Baghdad International Airport with four billion USD on board to Turkey, according to a statement issued by the ICAA.
The ICAA confirmed that Baghdad International Airport has staff from security and governmental agencies monitoring and following the movement of passengers and money smuggling operations.
The operations room of the airport is shared by the airport security, the intelligence service and the security company, the statement elaborated.
Taking money and gold out of the country is one of the competencies of the General Authority of Customs, and not everyone can collude to pass these large amounts of money, the statement clarified.
The statement also revealed that the security company Nassif accused was off work during the period the she mentioned.
The ICAA also emphasized that all surveillance cameras work continuously and record everything happening inside and outside the airport.
The statement stressed that the ICAA and Baghdad International Airport will use their legal right to file a lawsuit against parties spreading false information and inaccurate news with no evidence with the aim of creating chaos and confusion.
