Drone attack in northern Iraq stops flights at Erbil International Airport

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Flights at Erbil International Airport were suspended on Monday afternoon after a drone was shot down near the airport.
The spokesperson of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Yahya Rasoul, said that the accident caused some injuries and disrupted the flight schedule, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
A drone targeted a base containing US and international coalition forces to combat ISIS near Erbil International Airport in northern Iraq, according to Iraqi authorities, who said that the attack caused injuries.
Since mid-October, over 100 strikes have targeted US and international coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, reflecting the regional tension exacerbated by the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas organization in Gaza.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson for Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, criminal groups launched an attack near Erbil International Airport on Monday at 3:50 p.m., confirming that the Iraqi security forces will reach the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
103 attacks in Iraq and Syria have occurred since October 17, ten days after the war between Israel and Hamas broke out, according to a US military official.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for many of these attacks.
