Egyptian President confirms Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – In the first phone call between the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the new Iraqi President, Abdel Latif Rashid, El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Iraq’s security.
El-Sisi congratulated Rashid for becoming the new president of Iraq and wished him success.
The spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Rady, said that El-Sisi, during a phone call with Rashid, stressed the importance of the historical ties that unite Egypt and Iraq.
El-Sisi also stressed the keenness to continue to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Rashid thanked El-Sisi and confirmed that the ties between Iraq and Egypt are historical and strong, according to the presidency spokesperson.
Rashid expressed appreciation for the Egyptian efforts supporting Iraq at all levels, and for the vital Egyptian role strengthening the mechanisms of joint Arab action in facing the current crises and challenges in the region.
Last Thursday, the Iraqi Parliament elected Abdul Latif Rashid as the new President of the country, after obtaining the majority of votes in the second round of the voting process in which he competed with former President Barham Salih.
