Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Airways announced on Thursday that flights between Baghdad and Moscow have been suspended until further notice.

In a statement, Iraqi Airways said that it would like to notify travelers that, due to operational issues with the Russian side, it would no longer be operating scheduled flights between Baghdad and Moscow as of February 3, 2024, until further notice.

Iraq’s national carrier called on passengers who booked flights to Moscow to visit the company’s offices in Baghdad in order to get a refund on their tickets.

Iraqi Airways announced last September the resumption of direct flights between Baghdad and the Russian capital, Moscow.

The Iraqi national carrier currently serves over 50 destinations from Baghdad and is updating and growing its fleet to accommodate the expected rise in international business and leisure travel to and from the country.

Iraqi Airways and Boeing had an agreement allowing Iraq to purchase 26 passenger aircraft, ten of which were 787 Dreamliners.

According to officials in the Iraqi aviation sector, the step will help Iraq operate flights to new destinations to cover the world.
