General Electric adds 19 gigawatts to Iraq’s electricity grid

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – General Electric announced on Sunday the addition of 19 gigawatts (19 thousand megawatts) to the electricity network in Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The company mentioned it is building dozens of secondary stations in all governorates of Iraq, and confirmed that these stations support the electricity network and reduce outages, INA mentioned.
“Our participation in the Iraq Energy Exhibition as a sponsor supports the work of the Ministry of Electricity,” director of General Electric in Iraq, Rasheed Al-Janabi, said during the opening of the exhibition in its eighth session.
“General Electric works in Iraq in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity as a strategic partner for more than 50 years,” Al-Janabi explained.
Al-Janabi elaborated that important projects have been implemented during the recent decades in Iraq, such as the addition of 19 gigawatts of electric power throughout Iraq, including regions in Kurdistan.
“We are currently in the process of presenting important projects for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity,” Al-Janabi stated.
Al-Janabi clarified that working in the energy sector in Iraq is not limited to providing the Iraqis with their needs of energy, but rather providing clean and sustainable energy.
Al-Janabi indicated that General Electric presents visions for the future of energy in Iraq, including the provision of clean energy in a reliable and integrated manner for all Iraqis.
