 IDC starts drilling 27 new oil wells in East Baghdad Field

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) announced on Thursday it started implementing a project to drill 27 oil wells in East Baghdad Field, according to a statement cited by the state news agency (INA).

The statement mentioned that the technical and engineering staff in the IDC began drilling the first oil well within a project to drill 27 oil wells in the East Baghdad Field for EBS Petroleum Company Limited, which is registered in Iraq to conduct the petroleum operations on behalf of China ZhenHua Oil Company, in cooperation with China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), an integrated oilfield service provider.

The Statement indicated that the drilling operations are carried out using the 1500 horsepower IDC-36 drilling rig, which is one of the modern equipment in the company.

The statement elaborated that IDC is one of the leading national companies in the field of oil-well drilling, and its work mechanisms have been developed in accordance with quality, health, safety and environment international standards.

The statement added that IDC is currently working according to the Integrated Management System (IMS) to keep pace with the global development in terms of systems and standards.

East Baghdad Field is a group of oil fields, located east of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and is proven to hold eight billion barrels of recoverable reserve.

East Baghdad Field is believed to have a production potential of 400 thousand barrels per day. The oil field was discovered in 1976 and is 11 kilometers wide and 64 kilometers long.
