Inflation in Iraq decreased by 0.7% during March
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday that inflation in Iraq decreased by 0.7 percent in March, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Planning, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, mentioned in a statement that the Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology (COSIT) recorded a decrease in the monthly inflation rate, by 0.7 percent during March, compared to the previous month.
Al-Hindawi explained that the annual inflation increased by 5.3 percent during March compared to the same month in 2022.
The Iraqi official also elaborated that the decrease in inflation during the past March is reflected in the prices of commodities, where housing decreased by 4.1 percent, water and electricity decreased by 24.4 percent, the fuel price by 1.6 percent, and housing maintenance and services decreased by 0.1 percent.
Al-Hindawi added that transportation prices decreased by 1.3 percent, prices of services related to communication decreased by 0.3 percent, and entertainment services decreased by 0.5 percent.
