Iran reveals the content of Soleimani’s message before his assassination
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed on Monday the content of the message the late commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards, Qasem Soleimani, carried during his visit to Baghdad, stressing that it was part of the efforts to resolve the disagreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, mentioned in a press conference that the message was part of the efforts exerted to resolve the disagreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and to establish peace and stability in the region, according to Fars News Agency.
“General Soleimani was always a man of peace before he was a man of war,” Kanaani stated.
“By committing this crime, the United States killed a man of peace who was the hero of the international fight against terrorism, and they also obstructed the resumption of political relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia,” Kanaani added.
The US army carried out a military operation in which Soleimani was assassinated near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
The operation, in which Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, chief of staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq, was also assassinated, led to an escalation of tension between the United States and Iran, which vowed strong revenge.
The Iranian army, a few days following the operation, responded by firing missiles at Ain Al-Assad base, the largest US base in Iraq.
