Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, confirmed during his meeting on Monday with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, that Iraq can play an important role in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.

Khamenei highlighted the need to intensify political pressure on the United States and Israel to stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

Iran’s Supreme Leader described the Iraqi efforts supporting the people in Gaza as strong and serious.

Khamenei explained that the United States is intervening directly in the ongoing war, noting that Israel would not have been able to continue fighting without the political and military support provided by the United States.

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that the government is exerting great political efforts to stop the Israeli aggression.

The Iraqi Prime Minister also held a joint press conference with the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, where he noted that the people of Gaza have been living in difficult conditions for decades, calling on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians to contain the conflict and prevent further escalations in the region.

Al-Sudani’s visit to Tehran is part of a regional tour he started on Monday to discuss the developments in the Gaza Strip.

Following his visit to Tehran, the Iraqi Prime Minister is expected to visit Gulf capitals for further discussions on the ongoing war in Gaza.
