Iraq and Jordan pledge cooperation amid regional challenges
Munich (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani convened with King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2024.
The meeting marked a significant moment for both nations to reaffirm their commitment to bilateral relations and explore avenues for bolstering economic partnership and integration across various developmental sectors in Iraq and Jordan.
The primary topics of meeting at the conference were the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the ongoing bloodshed against the Palestinian people. Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering position against the deliberate murder and other crimes committed against the Palestinian people, calling such acts nothing less than genocide. Both heads of state issued urgent appeals for powerful countries and international organizations to step up their efforts in intervening, offering humanitarian relief, and actively trying to break the cycle of bloodshed and strife that has befallen the area.
The meeting served as a platform to underscore the shared commitment of Iraq and Jordan towards peace, security, and stability in the Middle East. Both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and diplomacy in resolving regional crises and advancing common interests.
