Iraq calls on Washington to urge countries to return nationals from Al-Hol camp
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qasim Al-Araji, stated on Thursday that the United States should encourage countries to return their nationals from the Al-Hol refugee camp.
Al-Araji statement took place during his meeting in Baghdad with the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, according to Alsumaria News.
Al-Araji and Romanowski discussed regional and international developments, particularly the security situation, in addition to the issue of the Al-Hol refugee camp.
The meeting also addressed cooperation frameworks between Iraq and the United States of America in the fight against terrorism.
Romanowski elaborated that Washington is ready to support Iraq regarding the issue of the Al-Hol camp in order to achieve security and stability in Iraq and the entire region.
The US ambassador added that the United States is serious about urging countries to withdraw their nationals from the Al-Hol camp and to help Iraq end this issue.
The Al-Hol camp is located in the Syrian countryside of Al-Hasakah, near the Iraqi border, and is under the control of the US army and the Syrian Democratic Forces.
Statistics indicate that the Al-Hol camp accommodates more than 50 thousand people, most of whom are women and children of ISIS militants.
