Iraq condemns the killing of 9 Palestinians by Israeli army
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq condemned on Saturday the killing of nine Palestinians by the Israeli army in Jenin camp in the northern part of the West Bank.
Israeli army and police forces stormed Jenin refugee camp on Thursday and killed nine Palestinians including an elderly woman.
“We condemn the Zionist occupation’s storming of the city and camp of Jenin in the State of Palestine, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of Palestinian citizens,” the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned in a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
“The ministry affirms the solidarity of the government and people of Iraq with the people of Jerusalem, and we demand an end to the hostile attacks on the Palestinian people,” the spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said.
“We renew our firm stance on the Palestinian issue, which has been a central issue,” Al-Sahhaf added.
Iraq does not only have any formal diplomatic relations with Israel, but the Iraqi Parliament also adopted last year a law criminalizing any form of normalization with Israel.
