Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, reaffirmed the government’s stance on the presence of the international coalition in Iraq.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting with the new French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durel, where they reviewed strategies to promote relations and strengthen partnerships between Iraq and France.

The Iraqi Prime Minister described the relationship with France as exceptional, indicating that several important contracts in the oil and defense sectors have been signed with France, constituting an important foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation.

Al-Sudani discussed the enhancement of Iraqi forces’ capabilities and the elimination of the security threat posed by ISIS remnants, underscoring Iraq’s intention of shifting to bilateral relations with the member states of the international coalition.

The meeting addressed the ongoing aggression in Gaza and the threat it poses to security and stability throughout the Middle East and the region, calling on France and the international community to take a firm and responsible stance to protect the Palestinian people.

Durel conveyed the French President’s desire to visit Iraq as soon as possible and the French government’s intention to strengthen cooperation with Iraq in terms of the work of French advisors supporting the Iraqi security forces.
