Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The spokesperson of the Iraqi armed forces, Yahya Rasool, announced on Tuesday that the eighth batch of humanitarian aid has been dispatched to the Palestinians in Gaza.

Rasool told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the Iraqi Air Force continues to send humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through El-Arish International Airport in northeastern Egypt, following instructions issued by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.

The Iraqi official explained that two airplanes loaded with 25 tons of food arrived at El-Arish International Airport.

The humanitarian aid is delivered under the supervision of the Iraqi Red Crescent to the Egyptian Red Crescent in the Egyptian city of El-Arish to be delivered to the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Iraqi government’s spokesperson, Basem Al-Awadi, said in October that Al-Sudani had given orders to send humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza via the Rafah border crossing.

The Israeli army announced in a new year message that soldier deployments were being modified in anticipation of ‘a prolonged fighting.’

The war in Gaza broke out after Hamas militants launched an unprecedented cross-border attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 more hostages.

Since October 7, more than 21,978 people have been killed, most of them women and children, and around 56,697 others have been injured in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas.
