 Iraq, Egypt discuss establishing industrial cities

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, and the Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq, Walid Mohamed Ismail, discussed on Tuesday ways to cooperate in the field of establishing and developing industrial cities, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals mentioned in a statement that Al-Najm received Ismail to discuss future cooperation between Iraq and Egypt in several industrial fields, especially the establishment and development of industrial cities.

The Iraqi minister listened to the desire of the Egyptian side to work with Iraq in developing industrial cities, and reviewed the reality of industrial cities in Iraq and the stages achieved in some of these cities, the statement elaborated.

Al-Najm indicated the ministry’s vision and seriousness about a partnership with the private sector to establish new factories and industrial projects using modern technology, the statement clarified.

The Iraqi official also talked about the ministry’s readiness to simplify the procedures for cooperation with all countries, including Egypt, according to the statement.

Al-Najm noted that the ministry welcomes cooperation with the Egyptian side to establish a general or specialized industrial city in light of the bilateral ties between the two countries, the statement illustrated.

Ismail confirmed his country’s desire to work in Iraq and open horizons for cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in terms of developing industrial cities and establishing promising industrial projects that serve the industry and interest of both countries, the statement added.
