Iraq emerges as Turkey’s third largest importer

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Wednesday that Iraq was the third largest importing country from Turkey last December.
The Turkish official authority indicated an increase in exports by 0.4 percent and a decrease in the country’s imports by 11 percent.
The authority mentioned in a report that Turkey’s exports during December reached $23 billion, representing an increase of 0.4 percent compared to December 2022.
Turkey’s imports in December 2023 reached $29.39 billion, representing a decline of 11 percent compared to the same month in 2022.
The report noted that Iraq was the third largest importer from Turkey with imports worth 1.25 billion, while Germany was the largest importer from Turkey with imports worth nearly $1.68 billion, followed by the United States with imports worth $1.31 billion.
The United Kingdom’s imports from Turkey reached $1.21 billion in December, when Italy’s imports from Turkey in the same month were worth $1.02 billion.
Most of Iraq’s imports of products, merchandise, and food come from its neighbors, particularly Turkey and Iran, less than Iraq’s imports from Jordan and the Gulf states.
