Iraq, France discuss relations development, fight against terrorism
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed various issues of joint cooperation with France, during a meeting with the French Ambassador to Iraq, Eric Chevalier, the state news agency (INA) reported.
The spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, mentioned in a statement that Hussein received Chevalier, in Baghdad, where they discussed ways to develop the bilateral relations in various fields, especially economic, investment, cultural, and security cooperation, as well as the fight against terrorism.
The meeting also addressed the results of the recent visit of the Iraqi delegation headed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to France, which included signing several agreements related to combating corruption, recovering Iraqi funds, protecting antiquities, supporting scientific research and training diplomats, the statement elaborated.
Earlier, Al-Sudani signed a strategic partnership agreement with the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
On January 17, the French Presidency stated that Macron met with Al-Sudani and concluded a set of strategic agreements aiming to strengthen the economic cooperation between Iraq and France.
The Elysee Palace mentioned in a statement that the two countries concluded an agreement, during the meeting, aiming to strengthen the bilateral relations in terms of anti-corruption, security, renewable energy and culture.
