Iraq, Iran discuss judicial cooperation to fight drug trafficking

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, emphasized on Wednesday the significance of bolstering judicial collaboration between Iran and Iraq in the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting with the head of Iran’s judiciary, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The discussion covered the two countries’ bilateral ties, their cooperative efforts to coordinate on matters of mutual concern, and Iraq’s important role in fostering regional dialogue in order to serve the interests of both Iraq and its neighbors as well as to advance regional stability.

The two sides reviewed the current situation in Gaza, Israel’s ongoing heinous crimes against civilians, and the necessity of coordination between the Islamic world’s countries to put an end to the conflict and spare the Palestinian people from extermination.

Mohseni-Ejei emphasized that Iran is looking forward to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in several fields.

The Iranian official also commended the Iraqi government’s policies towards the challenges facing Iraq and the region, as well as its responsible stances regarding the developments in Gaza.
