Iraq, Iran discuss regional developments
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and the Caretaker Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, discussed on Thursday regional developments, including the war on Gaza.
In a joint press conference held following the meeting, Hussein expressed his happiness with the discussions he held with his Iranian counterpart, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister explained that his meeting with Kani addressed Iraq’s clear stance on a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Hussein also noted that the expansion of the Israeli war in Lebanon will affect the whole region.
The Acting Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed that he discussed relations between the two countries with the Iraqi Foreign Minister, hailing the Iraqi government and people’s sympathy for Iran following the deaths of Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter accident in northwestern Iran on May 19.
Kani also emphasized that the atrocities committed against the Palestinians in Gaza must stop.
