Iraq is eager to strengthen relations with Spain
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, said on Wednesday that his country is eager to develop bilateral relations in various areas with Spain.
Hussein’s remarks took place during a joint press conference with the Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno.
“We discussed with the Spanish Minister ways to develop bilateral relations between the two parties in the cultural and economic fields and the role of Spanish companies in developing the infrastructure of the Iraqi economy, particularly in the fields of transportation, security, and military cooperation,” Hussein said.
The Foreign Minister of Iraq commended Spain’s participation in NATO and the international coalition and the training and advice Spain gave to the Iraqi military.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister highlighted the need to hold intensive meetings to activate the Joint Economic Committee and promote cultural interchange. He also mentioned sending diplomats and students from Iraq to Spain to take language courses.
