Iraq, Oman get ready for 25th Gulf Cup final
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The national teams of Iraq and Oman are preparing for the 25th Gulf Cup final match, as each of the teams seeks to be crowned with the title, according to the Emirates News Agency.
Iraq is seeking to win the fourth title after an absence of 35 years, while Oman is seeking to win its third title, the Emirates News Agency mentioned.
The 25th Gulf Cup final match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, in Basra International Stadium, where the Romanian football referee, Istvan Kovacs, will be leading the refereeing team.
The two teams met in the championship’s opening match, which ended in a goalless draw, during the first group competitions of the championship.
The Iraqi national team won the title three times in its history, in 1979 at home, and in 1984 and 1988.
The Omani team seeks to achieve the third title, after winning the championship in 2009 and 2018.
The two teams played 11 matches during all editions of the Gulf Cup. The Iraqi team won four times and the Omani team won twice, while five matches ended in a tie.
