Iraq organizes its relationship with the international coalition
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, emphasized on Wednesday that the government is working on organizing the relationship with the international coalition in Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (OMP) mentioned that Al-Sudani met with the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, where they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, training Iraqi security forces within the framework of the international coalition, and armament cooperation.
Al-Sudani confirmed that the strategic partnership agreement represents a work plan to develop Iraqi-French relations, commending France’s support for the Iraqi forces.
The Iraqi Prime Minister pointed out that the strategic partnership agreement signed during his visit to France last January represents a clear work plan to develop Iraqi-French relations in the fields of economy, security, energy, culture and education.
Al-Sudani indicated that the Iraqi government is organizing its relationship with the international coalition in Iraq to be suitable for the phase following the war against ISIS.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also talked about the government’s interest in armament and in cooperating with French companies, especially in relation to the air force, defense systems, and military industries.
Lecornu’s visit to Iraq follows a meeting he held on Tuesday with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha, Euronews reported.
In May, the Iraqi and French air forces conducted joint exercises in Iraq, in which Rafale aircraft participated.
