Iraq, Russia sign maritime transport agreement
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – In a step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation between both countries, Russia and Iraq signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of maritime transport, Sputnik reported.
The Russian government issued directives to the Ministry of Transport to start activating the terms of the agreement, which aims to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers through seaports.
Based on a proposal of the Russian Ministry of Transport and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other executive bodies, the agreement between the Russian and Iraqi governments for cooperation in the field of maritime transport has been approved.
The Russian Ministry of Transport was assigned to hold talks with the Iraqi side to reach a final agreement.
The agreement will facilitate and improve maritime transport operations between the two countries by facilitating customs and border procedures at ports.
The agreement is not applicable to warships or non-commercial vessels such as fishing and research vessels.
This agreement is part of the continuous efforts to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Iraq and reflects the commitment of the two countries to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
