Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that Baghdad had submitted a complaint against Iran to the UN Security Council.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry explained in a statement that the complaint pertained to the Iranian missile strike on Erbil, which resulted in civilian casualties, injuries, and destruction of both public and private property.

The statement elaborated that a copy of the complaint, in which Baghdad confirmed that the Iranian attack is a flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people’s security, has been forwarded by Iraq’s representative in New York to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry summoned its ambassador in Tehran, Nasser Abdul Mohsen, on Tuesday for consultations following the missile attacks carried out by Tehran in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Earlier, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian Charge d’Affaires in Baghdad and handed him a protest note in which Baghdad expressed its strong condemnation of the attack on areas in Erbil.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the ballistic missile bombing that targeted the city of Erbil in northern Iraq, claiming that it attacked an Israeli espionage center in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
