 Iraq supports initiatives ending crisis in Sudan

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, announced on Tuesday that Iraq supports initiatives that end the dangerous crisis in Sudan, indicating that work is continuing to evacuate Iraqis from the fire of fighting, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

During phone calls with the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Abdullah bin Zayed, Hussein discussed the situation in Sudan and the fighting between the two conflicting parties and its impact on Khartoum, the spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, mentioned in a statement.

Hussein commended the role played by Saudi Arabia and UAE in coordination with other countries to push the conflicting parties in Sudan to a cease-fire and to start a dialogue, according to the statement.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister stressed that the continuation of the armed clashes in some areas of Sudan may lead to a growing conflict, the statement explained.

Hussein expressed Iraq’s support for the initiatives undertaken by the Saudi and UAE governments to find ways to end this security and military crisis, the statement clarified.

Hussein thanked both ministers for the assistance provided by their governments to a group of Iraqi citizens who needed help evacuated from Sudan, the statement added.
