Iraq to boost economic cooperation with the UAE
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Thursday Iraq’s intention to develop the economic cooperation with the UAE, during his meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in Dubai, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.
In addition to issues related to cooperation and partnership between the two countries, the meeting between Al-Sudani and Al Maktoum addressed ways to find solid foundations for a sustainable partnership in the economic and investment fields, and in the fields of energy, culture and education, the statement mentioned.
Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s tendency to develop the level of economic cooperation and expand investments and the available opportunities in the service sectors, the statement explained.
Al Maktoum affirmed his country’s desire for economic openness to Iraq, the statement elaborated.
The two sides stressed the importance of coordination to face various economic challenges, to contribute to strengthening the historical relations that bind the two countries, the statement added.
Al-Sudani met with prominent business figures in the UAE later in the day, including Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar and CEO of Americana, and Ali Bin Harmal Al-Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi University.
Al-Sudani discussed the opportunities for long-term investment partnerships between businesses in the United Arab Emirates and Iraqi enterprises in the Iraqi market as well as Iraq’s openness to all types of trade, economic exchange, and collaboration between the two nations.
