Iraq to build 800-ton per day plate glass factory in Najaf
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, laid the foundation stone for a plate glass factory on Thursday with a production capacity of 800 tons per day in the central Iraqi governorate of Najaf.
The factory is one of several projects Al-Sudani launched in Najaf at a total cost of 555.808 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately $424.4 million), according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Beside the plate glass factory, Al-Sudani launched ten other transportation and sewage projects.
Al-Sudani confirmed that the construction of the plate glass factory is carried out by an investor in an industrial city, where land and services are provided to industrialists.
The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that the government backs the private sector and offers guarantees for significant projects, particularly those in the housing and construction sectors, where the demand for construction materials is high.
The Iraqi Premier indicated that Iraq needs three times the number of existing factories to fulfill domestic demand, calling on the private sector to take advantage of the opportunity in light of the government’s ongoing steps to overcome obstacles and bureaucracy.
