 Iraq to reopen its embassy in Vietnam

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed on Thursday that the necessary steps to reopen the Iraqi embassy in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, have been completed.

Hussein’s statement took place during his meeting with the Vietnamese Foreign Minister, Bui Thanh Son, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The meeting focused on strategies to develop bilateral relations and joint cooperation between Iraq and Vietnam.

Hussein expressed appreciation for the Vietnamese stance supporting Iraq, particularly in its fight against terrorism.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of resuming the meetings of the Iraqi-Vietnamese Joint Committee and creating a plan for bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and development sectors to serve the interests of the two nations.

The Vietnamese Foreign Minister made it clear that his country is eager to help with the formalities needed to resume operations at the Iraqi embassy in Hanoi.

Son also expressed that he fully supports any positive step that would advance bilateral ties between Vietnam and Iraq.
