Iraq to start operating direct flights to Beijing in May
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Tuesday that it will resume direct flights to Beijing in May.
After a year of stoppage, the first direct flight from Baghdad International Airport to Beijing Daxing International Airport via Basra International Airport is planned for May 4, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement indicated that the Iraqi Minister of Transport, Razzaq Al-Saadawi, instructed Iraqi Airways earlier to increase the number of its destinations.
Iraqi Airways will operate two flights from Iraq to China every Saturday and Tuesday and two flights from Beijing to Baghdad every Sunday and Wednesday.
The Transport Ministry said that it will use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to operate flights between Iraq and China.
Iraqi Airways currently serves more than 50 destinations from Baghdad and is expanding and renewing its fleet to support the anticipated increase in international business and leisure travel to and from the country.
