Iraq to unveil 10 new cities in different governorates
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Wednesday that 10 new residential cities in different governorates will be unveiled soon.
Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during the launch of the Al-Jawahiri new residential city project west of the capital, Baghdad, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Al-Jawahiri new residential city project is one of five new city projects, which are part of the government’s strategy to address the housing crisis and reduce congestion in the centers of major cities.
The five new cities are planned to be built in the governorates of Baghdad, Babylon, Karbala, Nineveh, and Anbar.
Another 10 new residential cities will be launched in other governorates, according to the Iraqi Prime Minister.
Al-Sudani emphasized that the government aims to build between 250,000 and 300,000 housing units for middle-class and low-income individuals.
The total area of the new Al-Jawahiri city is more than 7.1 square kilometers and will include 30,000 housing units, 10,000 plots, universities, commercial centers, about 70 schools, other service facilities, and activity centers.
