Iraq, Turkey discuss water and security issues
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and the Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmus, agreed on Thursday to activate the work of the joint committees concerned with water and security.
Al-Mandalawi and Kurtulmus met in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, during their participation in the 14th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The two sides talked about security concerns, border control, and investment stimulation, in addition to increasing Iraq’s share of water to meet the country’s actual needs.
The two lawmakers talked about Iraq’s Development Road project, its accomplishments, and its significance to both countries as a link between the East and the West.
Al-Mandalawi affirmed Baghdad’s condemnation of the ongoing attacks on Iraq and their implications for future relations between the two countries.
Additionally, the Iraqi legislator urged collaboration to bring about stability in the region and to coordinate the stances of the two parliaments in regional and global forums, particularly with respect to pivotal matters such as the Palestinian issue.
