Iraq, Turkey to discuss security coordination
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, will hold a meeting in Turkey with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, to discuss security coordination.
The spokesperson for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said in a statement on Tuesday that Hussein, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, to discuss Iraq-Turkey ties with the Turkish Foreign Minister and other senior officials, the state news agency (INA) reported.
The discussion will focus on how to advance and deepen bilateral ties between Baghdad and Ankara, as well as the potential for collaboration between the two countries, particularly enhancing security and intelligence cooperation to meet shared challenges in a way that protects their shared interests.
Al-Sahaf indicated that Iraq is about to start constructive talks that might mark a new turning point in the two countries’ relationship.
The Iraqi official mentioned that the Iraqi delegation includes National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji, Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi, Head of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Faleh Al-Fayyad, and other top security and military officials.
