Iraq unveils ticket sales for 25th Arabian Gulf Cup in Basra
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, the first regional football tournament to be held by Iraq in more than 40 years, has begun ticket sales. It will take place from January 6 to 19 in Basra, southern Iraq.
Along with the hosts, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates are also present at the tournament.
A link to the tickets website with rates ranging from $10 to $30 was published by the Iraq Football Association on its Facebook page.
Iraqi authorities declared earlier this month that they will waive the visa charge for spectators coming to Iraq for the competition. The initiative aims to draw football supporters from the Gulf area.
Both the 30,000-seat Al-Mina’a Stadium and the 65,000-seat Basra International Stadium will host the football matches.
In 1979, Iraq hosted the Arabian Gulf Cup in Baghdad, where it also won the football tournament. The 2014 Arabian Gulf Cup was originally scheduled to be held in Iraq, but Saudi Arabia was subsequently chosen as the host nation.
