Iraq, US discuss ending US-led coalition mission in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed on Tuesday drawing up a timetable for ending the international coalition’s mission in Iraq with the US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan.
The two sides met on the sidelines of the 54th version of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Both sides highlighted the need to start the work of the bilateral committee to review the presence of the international coalition in Iraq, which was agreed upon during the visit of the US Defense Secretary last August.
The meeting addressed the US President’s invitation to the Iraqi Prime Minister to visit the United States.
The Iraqi Prime Minister expressed his complete rejection of any action that violates Iraq’s sovereignty, particularly the recent US attack in Baghdad, confirming the government’s eagerness to confront any attacks targeting the bases that house advisors of the international coalition.
Al-Sudani indicated the unrest taking place in the region due to the continuation of the Israeli war on Gaza, stressing that regional stability could be achieved by stopping the war targeting civilians in Gaza.
