 Iraq vows that its territory will not be used to hurt its neighbors

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Wednesday that Iraq will never allow its lands to be used to attack neighboring countries.

Al-Sudani met in New York with the Iranian President, Ibrahim Raisi, on the sidelines of their participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi Prime Minister highlighted the importance of promoting relations between Iraq and Iran in all fields to serve the interests of both countries. He also emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of projects between the two countries, such as the recent railway project between the two countries to transport passengers.

Al-Sudani stressed that Iraq will never allow its lands to be used to attack neighboring countries, as it also refuses to compromise its security or sovereignty.

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that all regional issues must be subject to dialogue in order to reach radical solutions to regional crises.

Raisi thanked the Iraqi government for hosting Iranians visiting holy shrines during the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussein and his companions, describing the relations between the two countries as important and distinct.

Additionally, the Iranian President stressed the need to promote trade and economic relations between the two countries through bilateral initiatives.

Raisi applauded the efforts of the Iraqi government to tackle the situation in areas adjacent to Iraq’s northern border.
