Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Defense issued a statement on Monday revealing that Iraqi warplanes destroyed three sites where ISIS terrorists hide in Salah Al-Din governorate in northern Iraq, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement added that the Iraqi warplanes carried out an armed reconnaissance, search and inspection operation within Salah Al-Din operations command in which three assembly sites where ISIS elements hide were destroyed.

In September 22, The spokesperson for the Joint Operations Command in Iraq, Major General Tahsin Al-Khafaji, explained that ISIS terrorists in Iraq are less than one thousand, most of whom are locals, and they are spread in four or five areas.

The Iraqi National Security Service announced in September it arrested 24 suspects belong to terrorist groups in six Iraqi governorates.

In September 10, the Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) announced that seven terrorists belong to ISIS group were killed in an air strike in Anbar governorate in western Iraq.

In September 4, The Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) announced the killing of a prominent ISIS leader and two of his associates in an air strike in Kirkuk governorate.

The Iraqi authorities announced last August it launched the fifth phase of Operation Solid Will to pursue remnants of ISIS terrorist groups in the buffer zone with Kurdistan region.

The Solid Will is a series of military operations launched by the Iraqi forces late last year with the aim of pursuing the remaining terrorists of ISIS.

In December 2017, Iraq announced it eliminated ISIS terrorists and imposed full control over all Iraqi territories, including the border with Syria, but some hiding ISIS terrorists are still active in some areas of the country.
