 Iraqi air strikes kill 5 terrorists in Kirkuk, 5 in Salah-Al-Din

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) announced on Saturday that five terrorists belonging to ISIS group were killed in an air strike in Kirkuk governorate in northern Iraq, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The ISMC mentioned in a statement that the Joint Operations Command continues to set plans aiming to pursue remnants of ISIS group, INA reported.

The ISMC statement elaborated that an Iraqi joint force, following the air strike, found five corpses of ISIS terrorists, five machine guns, seven different grenades, 24 magazines of machine guns, seven detonators, a 10-meter detonating fuse, an amount of money, 20 mobile phones, 25 mobile SIM cards, and a portable router.

The statement explained that all the items were seized, and confirmed that the security forces are always ready for confront any attempts that would harm the country’s security.

In a related development, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that five ISIS terrorists were killed in an air strike carried out by F-16 fighter jets in Salah Al-Din governorate north of Baghdad, INA mentioned.

The ministry elaborated that Iraqi fighter pilots carried out a precise air operation in Salah Al-Din governorate in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command where four bombs were used.

In December 2017, Iraq announced it eliminated ISIS terrorists and imposed full control over all Iraqi territories, including the border with Syria, but some hiding ISIS terrorists are still active in some areas of the country.
