Iraqi Airways to resume direct flights between Baghdad, Moscow

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Airways announced on Tuesday the resumption of direct flights between Baghdad and Moscow, starting next Saturday.
Iraq’s national carrier mentioned in a statement that it will start operating two flights a week starting September 30, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Iraqi Airways currently serves more than 50 destinations from Baghdad and is expanding and renewing its fleet to support the anticipated increase in international business and leisure travel to and from the country, according to Business Traveller News.
The Director General of Iraqi Airways, Manaf Abdel-Monem, stated in July that the successive arrival of the new planes during the coming five years will be accompanied by the operation of flights to new destinations to cover the world.
Abdel-Monem explained that the company plans to operate flights to Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia and China.
Iraqi Airways had signed a contract with Boeing to purchase 26 planes, including 10 787 Dreamliners.
Iraqi Airways received the first of 10 planes ordered from the aircraft industry company to profitably develop its network and connect Iraq to more international destinations.
Iraq’s national carrier is working on developing its fleet because, according to reports, air traffic in the Middle East is witnessing a more than 40 percent increase compared to 2022.
