Iraqi Defense Minister discusses cooperation between Iraqi, Saudi armies
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Defense, Thabet Al-Abbasi, discussed, on Wednesday, military cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia with the head of Saudi military intelligence, Major General Hussam Abdullah Al-Damer, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Defense Ministry.
The statement confirmed that the two officials discussed ways to develop the cooperation between the Iraqi army and the Saudi army, particularly in terms of exchanging intelligence information between the two countries to ensure to security of both countries.
On April 15, the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, received the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, in Jeddah, where they reviewed the relations between the two countries, and the prospects for joint cooperation in different fields, according to a statement issued by Al-Halbousi’s media office.
Last month, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received a phone call from Saudi Crown Prince in which they discussed the mutual cooperation in various fields, including economic and investment sectors.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office, Al-Sudani and Salman discussed ways to develop the bilateral relations between the two countries in addition to regional and international issues.
The statement illustrated that both leaders emphasized that mutual cooperation, in various fields, will continue within the framework of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, to strengthen the relations and to meet the aspirations of the people of the two countries.
