Iraqi delegation discusses illegal immigration in Poland
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, confirmed on Tuesday that a delegation from the Foreign Ministry travelled to Poland to discuss illegal immigration and ways to enhance joint cooperation, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Head of the European Affairs Department in the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Haider Al-Athari, and the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Border Guard discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and Poland, particularly in terms of developing the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces, Al-Sahhaf mentioned.
Al-Sahhaf indicated that the meeting between the Iraqi and Polish officials took place on Monday in the headquarters of the Polish Ministry of Interior in Warsaw.
Al-Athari expressed appreciation for the Polish offer to cooperate in the field of training and developing the capabilities of the Iraqi border guards, the use of modern technology, and the exchange of information that would protect the borders from illegal infiltration operations.
The ministry’s spokesperson added that Al-Athari also appreciated the efforts of the Polish Border Guard for saving the lives of Iraqi citizens by providing medical care and basic aid to preserve their lives.
The Polish official thanked the Iraqi delegation for accepting the invitation sent by the Polish authorities to enhance the cooperation between Iraq and Poland and to serve the interests of both countries.
