Iraqi diplomatic efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed on Monday that tremendous Iraqi diplomatic efforts are underway to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, mentioned in a statement that Hussein met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, where they discussed the developments of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the expected consequences.
Hussein renewed the Iraqi government’s position regarding the recent developments in Palestine.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister indicated that remarkable diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent the possible displacement of the Palestinian people to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
The Gaza Strip has been under siege since the Israeli occupying forces launched their most intense bombardment and blockade ever following a devastating cross-border assault by Hamas fighters on October 7, according to Reuters.
Gaza’s 2.3 million population has been left without electricity as the Israeli shelling and siege have become worse, putting the health and water systems on the verge of failure with fuel for generators supplying hospitals with electricity running low.
