Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed on Thursday the Iraqi government and people’s continued support for the Palestinian cause.

Hussein’s remarks took place during a joint press conference with the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohamed Mustafa, where he renewed Iraq’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

“We support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and we closely monitor the conflict in Gaza, its effects in the region, and the political views of other countries,” Hussein said.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister expressed worry over the continuation of the war in Gaza, noting that Iraq supports US President Joe Biden’s ceasefire initiative, which he described as important and positive.

“Humanitarian aid is urgently required for Gaza in particular and the Palestinian people in general, as are plans for Gaza and other Palestinian areas’ reconstruction,” Hussein stated.

The Palestinian Prime Minister explained that the ongoing aggression against Gaza poses a threat to regional peace.

Mustafa elaborated that Iraq is a leading country in the region, hailing its role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
