 Iraqi FM discusses bilateral ties with UK

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Saturday the Iraqi-British ties with the Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and the United Nations at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Lord Tariq Ahmad.

The meeting of the two ministers took place in New York on the sidelines of their participation in the meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

Both sides reviewed the bilateral ties between Iraq and the United Kingdom and several regional and international issues of common interest.

Hussein highlighted the need to continue political consultations and cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom in the economic, development, and security areas, particularly in combating terrorism through national and international mechanisms.

Lord Tariq commended Iraq’s stances on regional and international issues, praising Iraq’s cooperation with international organizations and agencies concerned with development and humanitarian affairs.

The British official also urged that Iraq and Britain should keep working together on all fronts.
