Iraqi FM discusses cooperation with USAID
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) hosted the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and his accompanying delegation where they discussed cooperation in various fields, according to a press statement issued by Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Hussein talked about the close relationship between Iraq and the USAID ongoing for 20 years, as well as the USAID’s projects that contributed to providing support to Iraq, according to the statement.
The two sides also discussed the most important environmental challenges in Iraq, in addition to the proposals that can be considered, the statement clarified.
Both sides discussed the possibility of providing support for the development of the private sector in Iraq and reaching effective mechanisms to implement the policies agreed upon, the statement mentioned.
The two sides also agreed to continue meetings, joint coordination, to put forward future plans for the agency’s work in Iraq, and to cooperate with the Iraqi government to provide a better development reality.
Administrator of the USAID, Samantha Power, reviewed the plans and efforts that the agency is working on to serve the interests of the Iraqi people and the relationship with the United States, the statement elaborated.
Power also reviewed the Iraqi government’s plans to provide the best services, and a better future for the relationship between the United States and Iraq by encouraging investment in different sectors in Iraq.
Hussein invited the Power to participate in the Climate Conference that will be held in Basra next March, the statement added.
